About Consul

With comfortable sleeping accommodations for four people, a Consul boat hire is well suited as a cruiser for boat holidays with a couple and two children, or with two couples. These fine canal craft offer elegance throughout, and a saloon that’s ideal for entertaining family and friends. Two layouts are available.

The central saloon with steering position features a radio/CD player and MP3/USB connectivity

Large windows bathe the space in natural light

The kitchen/galley is equipped with an electric refrigerator, microwave, stove, and sink

  • The forward cabin features a V-berth (two single beds) that can combine to make one double bed
  • There's an adjacent bathroom with shower, toilet, and sink. Cabin fans provide comfort in warm weather
  • The aft (rear) stateroom is quite large and is equipped with a double bed, and an en-suite toilet, sink, and shower

The spacious aft (rear) sundeck includes a second steering position and ample seating for relaxing

The onboard electrical system runs on 12-volt DC power. There's also 220-volt shore power

The Consul is equipped with an efficient and reliable diesel engine

Restrictions and exceptions

  • To reach Amsterdam, this boat needs to cruise via the Nieuwe Herengracht (instead of Oude Schans) and can also not cruise through Utrecht.
  • Please note that this boat cannot cruise to Hindeloopen.

  • Hire of the boat, its facilities and equipment, which includes:
           - Fully equipped kitchen on board
           - Fridge, gas oven, hob, dishes and utensils.
           - Bathroom facilities on board
           - Hot showers, toilets and towels.
           - Sleeping facilities on board
           - Pillows, duvets and bed linen. 
           - Heating.
  • Pre-departure briefing.
  • Boat handling demonstration.
  • Daily technical support and assistance from the local Le Boat team as required.
  • On-board maps and visitor information
  • Safety equipment (inc. life jackets)

We found the staff to be very friendly and efficient. We found the person who trained us in the use of the boat also friendly and patient. The boat itself was in good condition when we arrived. We had a little issue with the bilge pump which was dealt with quickly and efficiently. All in all I have only good things to say regarding the boat and the service. For us it was a great holiday, allowing us the freedom to move as we wished. We went from Portumna to Carrick and also took in Lough Key - the one way nature of the trip allowing us to cover a large proportion of the beautiful waterway
