Sleeping a maximum of six, the Countess is a great canal boat rent well-appointed with warm and inviting wood cabinets and extensive interior space. The grand saloon has a radio/CD player and the large rear deck is an ideal venue for socialising and watching the scenery glide by!

Countess Interior & saloon

  • The central saloon with convertible double settee bed has a radio/CD player and an inside steering station.
  • The spacious U-shaped kitchen/galley has an electric refrigerator, stove, sink, and lots of cabinet space.
Countess Cabins & bathrooms

  • The forward cabin’s two single beds and adjacent shower and toilet are great for children or two adults.
  • Ideal for Mum and Dad, the extremely private stateroom at the rear of the boat has a double bed and an en-suite shower and toilet.
Countess Sundeck & exterior

  • The rear sundeck is large and well suited for entertaining. The second steering station affords excellent visibility.
  • The swim platform runs the full width of the boat. It also makes getting on and off the boat easier at the dock.
  • The onboard electrical system runs on 12-volt DC power. There’s also 220-volt shore power.
  • The Countess is equipped with an efficient and reliable diesel engine.

We received a warm welcome at Le Boat, and were very well looked after. The initial briefing from Lucy, and the introduction to the boat by Slawek were both friendly and informative. They both made it easy to start out on the river, for us novices. The boat was great! Very well equipped with everything we could need, and very comfortable. There was a fault we found with the heating, which did not work on the first night. But when we called to report this, the response was excellent. After some brief diagnostic chat over the phone with Lucy and Slawek, he visited the boat where we were moored, and got the fault fixed. There was also some reimbursement at checkout time, due to the time we lost during this repair. Eveything was handled very well, and we felt looked after and relaxed throughout.

Air France lost our luggage, so we had to start our holiday with what we could buy locally; however, Fabrice and all the team at Messac helped us out by bringing our luggage to us when it arrive two days later. (We were at Redon, 34km from Messac when the luggage arrived.) So we were able to have a great holiday with the minimum of disruption. We have hired lots of boats in France over the years from; Le Boat, Locaboat, France Passion Plaisance and Caminav. Generally, the boats from Le Boat are in better condition than the rest.
